National Youth Leadership Dialogue
In April 2016, Open Space Centre and Action Aid Uganda convened the National Youth Leadership Dialogue (NYLD) as a post-election initiative to establish a stakeholder-wide platform for newly elected youth leaders, youth in political parties, special interest youth groups and activists to review the gains and initiate constructive post-election advocacy agenda on the issues raised in the National Youth Manifesto. The key outcome was a joint statement from leaders committing themselves to taking forward the National Youth Manifesto agenda. At the end of the dialogue, the leaders recommended that a similar platform be convened from time to time to enable youth reflection and follow up on key national policy issues as highlighted in the National Youth Manifesto.
The dialogue has since evolved into a bi-annual policy and advocacy discussion platform bringing together youth leaders and key decision makers from various backgrounds and sectors around the five issues of the of the National Youth Manifesto; Health, Education, Jobs, Participation and, Sports and Arts.
